Gas prices continue to decline in Westchester, down another 32 cents from three weeks ago and down 47 cents in the last six weeks, according to the Westchester County Consumer Department's latest gasoline price survey done Aug. 26.
However, the average price is still 95 cents higher than a year ago when the average was $3.040 per gallon.
The survey of 344 stations in the county found the average price for regular is $3.988. The latest survey found the lowest price of $3.799.
Gas prices in Westchester peaked at $4.46 in mid July.
Drivers can save money by checking the survey results. The gas price survey is usually conducted once a month. However, when prices are in a flux, such as they are now, it is done two or more times a month.
