The Office of LGBT Affairs has a number of new resources available to the LGBT community. The recently updated "Resources: a Resource Directory for the LGBT Community" is currently being translated into Spanish.

The LGBT Advisory Board made a presentation at the 2008 LGBT Town Hall Meeting on June 11. Following the presentation was an open mic session during which the community offered feedback and suggestions.

LGBT people can now legally marry in countries like Canada and states like California and Massachusetts. This is a new, exciting step toward full equality for LGBT people. However, this brings up a very good question LGBT have never had to ask: "What comes after 'I do'?

The LOFT: the LGBT Community Center and The Leo Rosner Foundation are presenting an answer with the Gary David Kibblewhite Lecture: What Comes After “I Do” ? The Legal and Financial Realities. Learn more in news and events.

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in Westchester is as diverse as the general population. We live in all parts of the county, have varied family structures, work at different types of jobs and come from myriad racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Some of us live as totally open lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people — others remain in the closet for fear of reprisal. What we all have in common is the desire to be treated as equal citizens in our daily lives.

For questions and further information about these resources and events, contact Yvette Christofilis, Director, Office for LGBT Affairs.
