Recycling@School
Welcome to Recycling@School, created to provide ideas and information on how to either start or enhance a school-wide recycling program.

1.  Does your school supply enough recycling containers for the deposit and separate storage of recyclable materials?  Yes/No

2.  Does it provide an education program instructing school faculty, custodians and students about what to separate from the garbage and where to deposit recyclables?  Yes/No

3.  Does it ensure the collection of recyclable materials by a municipal or private hauler?  Yes/No

Westchester's recycling law requires schools, like any other business or institution, to meet these standards.  If you answered “yes” to all three questions, congratulations!  Your school has qualified to become a Westchester Wastewise School and be listed in this website.  Contact us by email or call 813-5441 and we'll put your school on the list.

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, contact us anyway and we'll provide you with the assistance you need to put your school on its way to becoming a Westchester Wastewise School.

The Westchester County Recycling Office assists schools in setting up a recycling program and educating staff and students about the benefits of recycling.
